High Capacity Cabling :

:: Data cabling technology has improved in
leaps and bounds as a result of improvement in information technology. It is now common to centrally control everything from simple remote devices to large complex networks. Fast, reliable and secure transmission of digital information between all of the devices and controllers within a network has become essential. We have our own in house cabling team consisting of fully certified Installations Engineers who can connect your network quickly and securely.

:: The cable we use for network installations is Excel Category 5e (enhanced), high performance unshielded twisted pair, with a grey PVC sheath. Terminations at the cabinet are carried out using new patch panels, and terminations at the outlet use Nexans unshielded faceplates mounted in appropriate adapters with a front labelling field, to match the wall / trunking plate style.

:: When installing cable, our engineers contain as much as possible, routing through ceiling and floor voids and existing trunking systems wherever possible, and clipped as deemed necessary. We may also install surface mounted mini trunking where necessary. Where it is not practical to either utilise existing containment or introduce new containment, the fabric of the building structure will be used and cabling will be secured to the structure using proprietary fixings.

:: Method Statement
Structured Cabling - No single cable run will exceed a maximum installed length of 90 metres, and when routing shielded cabling or siting structured cabling outlets a minimum separation distance will be maintained, from possible sources of EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference).

Labelling - All cables will be clearly labelled with a consecutive number within 100mm of each termination point, Once terminated all outlets and patch panels will be labelled with a user defined labelling scheme, and all labels will be printed, not hand written.

Cleaning - During the installation the site will be kept clean at all times, when drilling care will be taken to avoid the spread of dust and all dust pile will be removed, and all excess cable and containment will be removed from site at the end of the project.

:: Testing
Upon completion of the installation 100% testing to all outlets will take place, using a Fluke DSP 4100 level 3 scanner. Testing will comprise of the following elements - Headroom, Wire Map, NEXT and ELFEXT, Length, Propagation Delay, Delay Skew, Impedance, Attenuation, Resistance, ACR, Return Loss, Power Sum NEXT, Power Sum ELFEXT and Power Sum ACR.

:: Cabinets

Various sizes of secure cabinets are available which can come complete with built in fans for ventilation.

A cabinet is ideal for housing free standing or rack mounted servers, patch panels, switches and also uninterruptible power supplies. It will also help protect your hardware from the environment, reduce the risk of accidental damage or switching off, keep your cables tidy and limit unauthorised access.

You may also use a digital phone system, many of which are rack mountable and can therefore be integrated with the cabinet using a separate patch panel.
